The Military Classic of the South On Ice is an annual award given to the winner of the hockey game between The Citadel and VMI that has been played every since 2008. The most recent contest was the 3rd annual Military Classic, which occured on December 4, 2010, held at the Raleigh Ice Plex in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Citadel came back from a 4-1 hole in the first period to win their first ever title, winning 5-4. The Bulldogs then evened the series in the 2011 matchup with a 11-2 drubbing.
The game is also a charity fundraiser for the American Legion’s Legacy Scholarship Fund. More than $4,000 were rasied on last year's classic, and $14,000 has been raised overall.
All-Time Results[]
On the day before the Military Classic is played, another exhibition game is played between the two teams. This trend has continued for all three years, and has nothing to do with winning the trophy. The only time this game wasn't played was in 2011.
